Perceivability

Through the principle of perceivability, we want to ensure that functions and information are presented in a way that every user can actually notice them. For us, the so-called two-channel principle is important. This means that we make information perceivable through two different sensory channels.

Simply put, we make sure that:

  • all information that can be perceived visually is also audible,
  • all information that can be perceived audibly is also visible,
  • we do not rely solely on colors to convey information, to account for color blindness,
  • where possible, we also support or reproduce information tactually.

In practice, we implement this, among other things, by:

  • providing alternative texts for all images and graphics,
  • making the duration of time-controlled media adjustable,
  • allowing text sizes to be adjusted,
  • ensuring sufficient contrast between foreground and background or making foreground and background sounds distinguishable,
  • and offering videos with subtitles.

Operability

To enable users to interact with our IT solutions, we ensure that they are operable also for people with disabilities.

For us, this includes among other things:

  • keyboard accessibility, which is essential for people with motor impairments or blindness, which we guarantee,
  • time limits for individual interaction steps, which we make sufficient for all,
  • we avoid flashing and blinking to prevent seizures for people with epilepsy,
  • we support orientation through clear and explicit link texts and different navigation paths,
  • for pointer gestures or complex gestures we provide alternatives.

Comprehensibility

We also value the principle of comprehensibility outside the context of IT accessibility. We ensure that content is easily readable and understandable for the widest possible audience, even when read aloud. Therefore, we use clear and simple language and provide explanations for technical terms, unusual expressions, or abbreviations if necessary, so that even non-experts, people with a different native language, or people with cognitive impairments can understand the content well. The principle of comprehensibility also includes the predictability of the user interface with consistent presentation and navigation, as well as support in preventing input errors.
